Living & working in Herford

In the midst of the rolling countryside of Ravensburg-Lippe between Teutoburg Forest and the Wiehen Hills, at the confluence of the Werre and Aa rivers, lies one of the oldest towns in Westphalia: the Hanseatic town of Herford.

60,000 inhabitants live and work in the middle of eastern Westphalia. Herford is a successful business location for fashion and furniture – hidden champions, world leaders in the kitchen industry, major brands in the fashion sector and a museum which could be in London, Paris or New York. Culture, art and lots of nature – the region of Ostwestfalen-Lippe (OWL) has lots to offer.
Herford will surprise you!

Career events calendar

Trade fair at the goods station

On 8 and 9 June 2017, BRAX will be on the lookout for new, committed and fashion-focussed talent.

In order to fill young people in the region with inspiration for fashion, BRAX appears at careers fairs in Herford. Sparkasse provides a platform for this and, once a year, all interested parties meet up at the old goods station under the title of "Herford bildet aus" ("Herford educates"). BRAX also gives information on applicant projects at vocational training colleges and secondary schools locally. As the largest provider of training in industrial management in the Herford/Minden/Lübbecke district, this was the perfect platform to give potential apprentices an insight into the company.

The BRAX offering includes 15 places each year to train in industrial management and two places for fashion dressmakers. In addition to this, since 2007 there has been the opportunity to gain qualifications in digital media design and warehouse logistics. In total, BRAX trains around 50 apprentices per year across all year groups.

BRAX at MyJob OWL Bad Salzuflen

BRAX HR Manager Uwe Hetberg and his team represent BRAX at MyJob OWL – Ostwestfalen-Lippe's largest job fair – from 10 to 12 March 2017.

Over the three event days, MyJob OWL demonstrates its importance for the region as an exceptional application portal and network for companies from Ostwestfalen-Lippe. BRAX is hoping for similarly positive results on the subject of careers and training as in 2016. The entire team is hoping that the meetings will generate career opportunities at BRAX and is looking forward to MyJob OWL 2017.

BRAX at the Sparkasse Herford careers fair

From the young for the young – BRAX apprentices present various careers and combined programmes of study and work to future career starters at the Sparkasse Herford careers fair from 20 to 23 March 2017.

The fair is principally aimed at school pupils in the Herford region, but private individuals may also visit the fair alongside pupils.

MG zieht an – Go Textile!

The BRAX team will be appearing at the "MG ZIEHT AN – GO TEXTILE!" trade fair on 18 and 19 May 2017, which takes place every two years. This is one of the largest recruitment fairs in the German-speaking region and an endorsement of the textile skills in the Lower Rhine region.

Across two days, students and interested individuals come into contact with BRAX as well as other notable and globally active companies from the textile and clothing industry: in a direct, modern, practical and targeted manner! An extensive fringe programme with live events, forums and lectures on textile innovations in the fashion and textile machinery sectors rounds off the offering.

BRAX Girls and Boys Day

Every year BRAX hosts a Girls and Boys Day as part of a promotional project run by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, which enables 12 secondary school students aged between 10 and 15 to experience the fashion industry up close.

This was the 15th time that girls and boys from various schools in Ostwestfalen-Lippe have had the chance to take a look behind the scenes of the Herford-based fashion company and find out about the numerous opportunities for apprenticeships at BRAX. The interested students were given some general information and were then able to find out all about BRAX as a company thanks to a special presentation. They also met current BRAX apprentices, who spoke to them about their individual training positions. Another highlight was the tour through the logistics centre for hanging goods on Leinewerberstraße. In the sewing room, the young visitors were then able to put their skills to the test on the sewing machine. Lunch in the Casino was followed by a tour through the BRAX Shophouse, where the school pupils were faced with a challenge: together they had to decide which outfits looked best in the shop window and then arrange them. Afterwards, one outfit was declared the winner.

BRAX successfully presents itself at the graduate job fair in Cologne

Together with several representatives from the fashion industry, BRAX spoke to numerous trade fair visitors in the TW Fashion Lounge at the graduate job fair in Cologne about prospects in the fashion industry and at BRAX.

BRAX HR Manager Uwe Hetberg viewed the event positively: "It was a successful trade fair for us with lots of interested young people with top references. We are particularly pleased to have met a candidate for the technical department."

Young Professionals Day

As an employer in the fashion industry, at the Young Professionals Day in Frankfurt am Main BRAX was introduced to many school pupils, students and young graduates.

BRAX has already had positive experiences in the past with applicants at the Young Professionals Day. Positions in international sales and e-commerce have been successfully filled, and this year potential candidates were also excited at the prospect of becoming a part of the BRAX success story.
